Vinous Neal Martin - 12 Dec 23
The 2019 Bienvenue-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is very reduced on the nose, snuffing out its sense of place and terroir, yet somehow, there remains some delineation and energy. The palate is rich and honeyed, toasty even, with low acidity and some alcohol toward the finish. It comes across like an also-ran Australian Chardonnay. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
